Just a quick question.

Do you split the 4 gal water? Mixing honey and 2 gal water in the pot and the other 2 gal into the fermentation bottle?

Hello Gigi, thank you.
I have also read that you can add flavour to taste in the glass before drinking. Perhaps that’s worth trying too.

Hi Sally, Yes, you can add fruit and spices to the secondary fermentation. There are a couple of things to keep in mind 1) fermentation may resume as fruits contain water (roughly 70%) which reduces the level of alcohol and extra sugar in the fruit will initiate fermentation, and 2) it may take a while for fruit and mead to blend so determining the optimal point when to bottle can be difficult. Having said this, it’s definitely worth giving it a shot 🙂

Thanks for this information. Do you think it would be alright to add fruit or spices to the secondary fermentation, or, even leave them in the bottle while aging the mead?

Thank you
