Hi Abby,
Thanks so much for sharing your yogurt making experience. I hope this truly encourages other readers to make it too. The current situation we are all in is one more reason to make simple and healthy meals at home. I totally agree with you, we need to be prepared for whatever might come down our way.
Feel free to share some photos of your experiments 😊
Stay well!
Gigi

Thanks for all the yogurt information. I am usually happy to get Fage yogurt from Walmart weekly but with the pandemic, I am re-thinking a lot of my food supplies. Since yogurt is a daily treat, some experimentation is underway to make sure I am NEVER without yogurt.

My first batch ever made in my instant pot was perfect. I made it with Fage, 2% milk and a little half and half. Then I tried it with Fage, 1 part 2% milk and 1 part powdered milk, which I made thicker. This is a little clabbered looking, so I will experiment with straining and maybe even whipping???

I bought full fat powdered milk from a bakery supply company, so I will try that too.

I will also purchase your recommended dry yogurt starter and experiment, hoping that I can stock my root cellar with the powdered milk and yogurt in order to have that backup. Finally, I want to experiment with making yogurt sans electricity. In case of the Zombie Apocalypse. 😉 I really like being prepared!

Blessings upon you for success and good health – with yogurt!

Abby
