Apple cider vinegar has a long history as a home remedy. It has been used for healing wounds, lowering blood sugar, curing sore throat, improving digestive system  to polishing furniture. Many people around the world consider apple cider vinegar cure-all product which can support your health in many ways.

Apple cider vinegar also known as cider vinegar and ACV. You can find ACV in your local health food store in its raw, organic and unfiltered state.

What is vinegar?

Word vinegar is literal French translation for ‘sour wine’ referring to the final product of the fermentation process. Vinegar is made when natural sugars of carbohydrates break down using yeast and bacteria and turn into alcohol. The most common vinegar is apple cider vinegar with other popular varieties being wine vinegar, rice vinegar and coconut vinegar.

How is ACV made?

ACV is made by crushing fresh apples and letting them ferment in barrels with added yeast. During this fermentation process alcohol is created. Bacteria is added to the mixture to convert the alcohol into vinegar which is known as second stage of fermentation.

Ready to use vinegar contains dark and cloudy bacteria called ‘mother’. The ‘mother’ consists of living nutrients and friendly bacteria. When you see floating ‘mother’ in ACV it means that the vinegar is unfiltered and contains all its nutrients. The main health benefits of ACV come from the ‘mother’ as it contains antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial healing powers.

How to choose a good quality ACV?

You can purchase apple cider vinegar from your local grocery store or a health food store. The key is to buy raw, organic and unfiltered ACV. Apples are packed with vitamins and minerals which gives ACV its myriad health benefits. ACV is rich in minerals like potassium, calcium, copper, ircon, magnesium, zinc and others. It also has many vitamins including vitamin A, C, E and many types of vitamin B.

Millions of people choose to start weight loss programs for various reasons. Many of us are prepared to pay top price and try literally anything to shred a few extra kilos. How ACV can help you? Remember, ACV is acidic and that acid helps you suppress your appetite, increase  your metabolism and reduce water retention. Including ACV into your weight loss diet is easy. Make a daily dose by combining 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of ACV and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.

Eases a sore throat

ACV is a great sore throat cure as its minerals,vitamins, enzymes and antioxidants work together in soothing a sore throat. Add two tablespoons of ACV to one cup of warm water. Gagle the mixture by ¼ cup gulps.

I’ve done this many times and it definitely works. Ensure you do it at least twice a day in the morning and in the evening before you go to sleep. If time allows, you can gargle ACV a couple of times during the day.

Do you ever wish you had something to stop that itch or burn after an insect bite or sting? Undiluted ACV helps neutralize the venom excreted by the insect. It also prevents inflammation at the site of sting or bite.

Mix one cup of ACV with quarter of cup of water then using cotton ball apply the mixture on the bite spot every 15 minutes. This is another remedy that works well for me as I get a bad reaction on mosquito bites.

Gets rid of acne

Being an acne sufferer can be very frustrating. Many try prescription medications and over the counter treatments. Often these treatments are ineffective and expensive. Using ACV can help you get rid of your ache by restoring a normal pH to the skin, regulate oil production, reduce implementation and improve circulation in the skin. Mix four tablespoons of ACV with two tablespoons of water. Apply to your skin with cotton ball as needed.

ACV benefits the skin as well as the body. The acidity in ACV restores the natural pH balance to the scalp and returns the hair to its normal condition without residue. For the best results combine five tablespoons of ACV with one cup of warm water. Rinse the scalp with the mixture after shampooing and conditioning, but before towel drying. For the best results repeat the treatment twice a week.

Improves digestion

ACV helps improve digestive problems like bloating, indigestion, reflux, constipation and diarrhea. The vinegar improve pH balance in the stomach which helps support the effect of the hydrochloric acid that is released from stomach cells.

To relieve constipation, add one tablespoon of ACV to one cup of water and drink the mixture over the course of 30 minutes. To prevent constipation in the future introduce ACV into your diet, drink more water and eat more whole foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.
